So here we are again, another Monday and the start of a new week. Week 9 of lockdown. Unbelievable and yet true.
I was so pleased to receive a photo at the weekend from oldest son and d-o-l of themselves having a picnic on their new picnic cloth. I think it will be well used, as will the other one sent to youngest son and d-i-l.
As intended, I managed to have my Monday morning meeting with myself, and I made a list of the things I’d like (or need) to get done this week. It includes making another birthday present to post out, and also making some more of those face coverings – they can go in the package along with the birthday present.
Today I focussed on the garden. All things intended either to make less work for the future (weeding before seeds set and fall) or make the garden look more attractive now (raising the canopy of the twisted hazel tree in the back garden; generally tidying around and rearranging some of the pots). I scooped out some of the detritus from the pond, and managed to rescue several newts and newtlets from what I scooped out. Later in the week I will weed the back garden, and plant out some of my seedlings. As we gardeners do, I’m already making mental notes of things to split and move around in the autumn (or whenever we have a decent amount of rain).
We enjoyed the bread I made on Friday so much that we seem to have eaten most of it already, so I’ve got another batch started and ready to bake tomorrow.
All in all, a quiet enjoyable and also gently productive day. Give me plenty of those and I’ll be satisfied.
I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow. Stay well, stay safe xx
And that’s why I’ve stopped baking bread!!! Well, that and no flour.

I’m so sorry Liz, I didn’t realise I hadn’t replied to you. And yes, that’s the downside of good home baking! I’m fortunate to have plenty of flour, as I always buy it in bulk (25k sacks) – have done for 35 years or so.
