In the time of the virus: day 83

Sunday.  The day we arranged to meet up with oldest son and d-i-l, at long last.

Despite postponing for a better weather forecast the day began rainy, but no matter.  The important thing was simply to be together.  We had such a lovely time.  We met halfway between us and them, and there was a bit of a worry to begin with when we found that (surprise surprise) many other people had the same idea and the car park was full.  But we managed to find somewhere to park, and once we walked into the forest we were soon alone, and able to enjoy catching up with how life had been over the past 4 months or so.  They are both well and impressively good at finding ways to make the most of what they can do without dwelling on the things that aren’t possible.  I’m sure we’ll do it again before too long, and there are many places we can explore together.

We all agreed that life isn’t going to go back to the old normal.  That now is normal for now, and the future is likely to be a different kind of normal, to which we will all have to adjust.

I was pleased to be able to take some allotment produce for them.  They live in a flat and have no private outside space in which to grow (apart from their very productive herb garden in a window box), so they always appreciate whatever I can give them.  Today it was eggs, a very full bag of mixed salad leaves and herbs, and a good bundle of sage and rosemary.  I know they will enjoy all of it.

I hope your weekend was as good as ours.  See you tomorrow xx

  1. I am glad you had a good visit. Beautiful area and photos! I agree we will have a different normal after all this.

I love to read your comments. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and I don't mind if you don't. However, I ask you to respect the 'circle time' rules made by my son's primary school teacher: make a comment, ask a question or say something nice. Thank you!
